National Indian Education Association Conference
The Native American Social Work Studies Institute was very honored to participate in the NIEA Conference in Albuquerque. New Mexico Highlands University, Facundo Valdez School of Social Work is blazing a path forward for tribal social work. We were excited to have many visitors at our outreach table who expressed deep gratitude and interest in addressing our tribal communities’ specific needs. Comments I heard were inspiring and motivating. The NASWSI will continue to research and develop curricula for all future social workers and other helping professionals to fill their toolbox with skills and knowledge needed to help tribal communities thrive! (And a special thanks to the Mescalero Apache Tribe’s leadership for visiting our table and talking with us about our efforts.)
